A Visit to the Bafut Palace

A visit to the Bafut Palace, one of only two sites within the Northwest Region on UNESCO's Tentative List of World Heritage Sites. A meeting was held with local producers of the Atogho, a significant part of the fashion and design heritage of the region.

In this meeting, chaired by the Fon of Bafut, we talked about ways to boost the embroidery sector through support of local fashion designers, the setting up of SMEs, and creating linkages to leverage investment within the creative and cultural sectors. We also discussed alternative markets for local artisans who have been greatly affected by the ongoing crisis, which has disrupted tourism in Bafut Village.
